What is the procedure for an NRI to get General Power of Attorney from abroad?
The procedure is very simple. Let me give a real example in step by step explanation. Step 1: Mr.Arun lives in Singapore and he wants to sell land in Bangalore. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, he could not able to travel to Bangalore to sell a property. We suggested to Mr. Arun that to give General Power of Attorney (GPA) to any of his blood relatives in India. so he chose to give power to his brother who lives in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. Step 2: Mr. Arun prepared the GPA draft in word file Step 3: Mr. Arun Printed the GPA draft on A4 size bond paper. Step 4: Mr. Arun got an appointment from Indian consulate office in Singapore. Step 5: Mr. Arun carried printed GPA, passport, and local address proof to Indian consulate office, Singapore.
