 Five steps to cancel the power of attorney in Karnataka,

  1. Drafting
  2. Printing
  3. Government charge & payment
  4. Registration
  5. Publication

Let me explain the above steps in detail,

Step 1: Draft:

Prepare the cancellation draft. The draft looks like the below image

Step 2: Print:

Print the draft on document or bond paper

Step 3: Government charges:

Following are the government charges

  1. Stamp Duty: Rs. 200
  2. Registration fee: Rs. 200
  3. Scanning Fee Rs. 200

Government charges are paid through K2 website. Below is the procedure to pay government charges

Open the K2 website, below image is the home page.

Scroll down a bit and click on Generate Challan, circled in below image.

In Remitter Details, provide your name, address, email ID and mobile number. Refer to below image in rectangle

In Department Details,

  1. Category: Select Government from dropdown list
  2. District: Select your district from drop-down list, I selected Bengaluru urban in above image
  3. Department: Just type stamp, automatically DEPARTMENT OF STAMPS AND REGISTRATION popup for selection.
  4. DDO Office: Select your sub-registrar office, I selected Rajajinagar, Bangalore as my sub-registrar office in above image
  5. DDO Code: displays automatically, no action required

In Purpose Details,

  1. Purpose: Select DUTY (STAMP DUTY) from dropdown list
  2. Sub Purpose Name: Select “Power of Attorney [Article No. 41]” from dropdown list
  3. Amount: Type Rs. 200
  4. Head of Account: Displays automatically, no action required
  5. Click on “Add” button

Again In Purpose Details,

  1. Purpose: Select FEES from dropdown list
  2. Sub Purpose Name: Select “Fees for Registering Documents” from dropdown list
  3. Amount: Type Rs. 200
  4. Head of Account: Displays automatically, no action require
  5. Click on “Add” button

Again in Purpose Details,

  1. Purpose: Select FEES FOR SUPPLY OF REGISTERED DOCUMENTS from dropdown list
  2. Sub Purpose Name: Select “Scanning fees” from dropdown list
  3. Document Number: 6 (number of pages)
  4. Amount: Type Rs. 200
  5. Head of Account: Displays automatically, no action required
  6. Click on “Add” button

Payment:

  1. Mode of Payment: Multiple payment options are available, like credit card, debit card, Netbanking, cash. I want to pay through Debit card so I selected Debit card from dropdown list in above image.
  2. Types of Aggregator: Select either SBI e-Pay or ICICI e-Pay from dropdown list. I selected SBI e-Pay from dropdown
  3. Accept the terms & conditions
  4. Click on Submit

Enter the CAPTCHA and click submit, refer to the below image in circle.

Challan number will be generated, refer to the below image

Click on “Ok”

Enter the payment details and complete the payment, refer to below image

After the payment, page will direct to challan. A challan looks like below image

This completes the payment of government charge.

Step 4: Registration:

Carry the following documents to sub-registrar office near you

  1. Original copy of Power of Attorney
  2. Cancel of Power of Attorney (you just printed on document or bond paper)
  3. Challan
  4. Your aadhar

Show the above documents to chamber officer in sub-registrar for verification

Officer will take your biometric fingerprint and webcam photo. You will be asked to sign on the “cancel of power of attorney”

Sub-registrar will scan the “cancel of power of attorney” and hand over the hard copy to you.

This completed the registration.

Step 5: Publish

Share the registered copy to your attorney (whom you gave POA) and advocate, let them know that you canceled the POA.

If require, publish in newspaper, publish in both local and English language newspapers. Mentioned the registration number in publication.

This completed the procedure to cancel the power of attorney.
