How many days will it take for our name to reflect in BBMP property tax assessment portal following Khatha transfer? My Khata transfer was done last week but still, it's not reflecting in BBMP tax assessment site.

BBMP officials should update the name in property tax portal following the khatha transfer but most BBMP officials don’t update the name in property tax portal.

You should have separate follow-up to get the name change done in property tax portal.

As soon as you receive the khatha certificate and extract from the BBMP official, remind the BBMP official to update the name in property tax portal, most likely you should give 3–4 reminders in the next consecutive days from the day of khatha certificate & extract collection.

If the name change is not followed immediately following the khatha transfer, say for example after 3 months of khatha transfer. BBMP officials demand separate application for name change in tax records.

Below is the procedure to file an application for name change in property tax portal.

Step 1: Take the photocopy of the following documents

  • Requestion letter (2 copies)
  • Khatha certificate and extract
  • Latest property tax paid receipt (pay the property tax till current financial year even though the name is of previous owner)

Step 2: Meet the ARO in BBMP office and submit the above-listed document. ARO seal & sign in one of the requestion letters handed by you as acknowledgment receipt.

Step 3: Follow up with BBMP official (Giving and taking bribe is offense as per Indian law)

Step 4: Name should be updated in 15 working days from the day of application submission.
