What is a non-judicial stamp paper? Why is it required? What are differences between 10 Rs, 20 Rs, and 50 Rs non-judicial stamp papers?

Stamp papers that would be used for execution of documents are called non judicial stamp papers

Non-judicial stamp use to execute like following documents,

  • Affidavit
  • An immovable property agreement like rental agreement, lease agreement, Sale agreement
  • Power of Attorney (POA), General power of attorney (GPA), Special power of attorney (SPA)
  • Business agreements like partnership agreement, Investmnebt agreement, loan agreement, etc.

There is no visible difference between 10Rs, 20Rs, and 50Rs non-judicial stamp paper, all non-judicial stamp papers look like same but the stamp duty amount differ (we circled stamp duty in below image for your consideration)

For different document title, different stamp duty is application

For Example :

  1. Affidavit: Rs. 20 stamp duty
  2. Rental agreement: Rs. 100
  3. Lease agreement: Rs. 200/-
  4. Power of attorney: Rs. 200–500/-
  5. Sale agreement : 0.1% of consideration value

The cost of non-judicial stamp paper:

  1. For less than Rs. 100 stamp duty: Stamp duty amount + vendor processing fee Rs. 10.
  2. For more than Rs. 100 stamp duty: Stamp duty amount + vendor processing fee Rs. 15

  2. 1st party name
  3. 2nd party name
  4. Stamp duty amount
  5. Purchaser contact number (though your contact number doesn’t reflect in stamp paper but require to provide input to generate stamp paper)
