What is the procedure to get a POA registered in India?

Below is the procedure to register a POA in India (My answer is more relevant to Bangalore location)

  1. Prepare the draft in word format
  2. Print the draft on A4 size document paper or bond paper
  3. Executant should carry printed POA and Aadhar to nearest sub-register office.
  4. Pay the registration & stamp duty fee of Rs. 200
  5. You are made to sit in front of registering officer. Officer collects your Aadhar number for digital signing + take passport size photo through webcam + your biometric fingerprint.
  6. Registering officer will take a printout of registration & stamp duty receipt, and attach the receipt with POA.
  7. As an executant, you need to sign the POA at all pages and two witnesses should sign at witness sections.
  8. Submit the POA to chamber officer in sub-register office. The chamber officer attest, sign and hand back the document to you.
